Curcumin COMPLEX

Capsules with Turmeric, Ginger and Piperine (Black Pepper)

  • Powerful Turmeric Extract (95% Curcuminoids and 41% Curcumin)
  • With Ginger extract (5% Gingerols)
  • With Black Pepper extract (95% Piperine)
  • Small capsules for easier swallowing
  • Allergen-free. Suitable for Vegans

Curcumin COMPLEX are vegetable capsules made with three potent herbal extracts: turmeric (95% curcuminoids, of which 41% is curcumin), ginger (5% gingerols), and black pepper (95% piperine). These highly pure, standardized raw materials result in one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory products on the market. This product is designed for athletes and all types of people, active or sedentary. It is suitable for vegans and is allergen-free.

Key benefits of turmeric

  • Anti-inflammatory: Its main action is to act as a potent natural anti-inflammatory, whose identified mechanisms of action include the reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukins 1 and 6 (IL-1 and IL-6) and Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-α). In sports, this appears to lessen the intensity of post-exercise muscle soreness, also known as delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), thus promoting recovery (Rosińska-Lewandoska, D. et al., JEHS. 2024 and Liu, X. et al., PO. 2024). For this same reason, it may also be a protective agent for the joints. And, in general, it has analgesic effects, so it is used as a natural substitute for NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), both for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic action, that is, it serves as an alternative treatment for various chronic inflammatory diseases (arthritis, gastrointestinal diseases, cancer, psoriasis, etc.).
  • Antioxidant effect: It helps protect cells against oxidative damage because, on the one hand, it helps eliminate ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) (Nanavati, K. et al., EJN. 2022) and, on the other hand, it enhances the increase in the activity of our body’s own antioxidant enzymes (Alam, M.S. et al., P. 2024).
  • Immunomodulatory effect: Helps maintain normal immune function, for example, in patients with autoimmune diseases it helps reduce systemic inflammation (Alam, M.S. et al., P. 2024).
  • Effect against neurodegenerative disorders: Such as Alzheimer’s disease (Yang, F. et al., JBC. 2005). Curcumin can cross the blood-brain barrier in small but biologically active amounts, where it mitigates nerve inflammation by suppressing the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, as previously mentioned, which are often elevated in response to injury and the accumulation of amyloid plaques (Fernández-Lázaro, D. et al., N. 2020). It is worth noting that curcumin supplementation has also been associated with improved mood in individuals with major depressive disorder (Alam, M.S. et al., P. 2024), highlighting its potential neuroprotective and psychotropic properties.

Key benefits of ginger

  • Anti-inflammatory: As a plant in the turmeric family, it shares many similar properties, including significant anti-inflammatory effects. This is why it reduces the pain of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) in athletes, thus improving recovery. This analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect appears to be cumulative, so its continued use is recommended both before and after competition, or during periods of intense training (Christopher Black, D. et al., TJOP. 2010).
  • Antioxidant effect and immune support: Being rich in antioxidants and bioactive components, ginger helps modulate systemic inflammation and oxidative stress generated by intense exercise. Including ginger daily also helps contribute to a better immune system and, therefore, reduces the risk of illness, which is very important for athletes, especially during the winter months.
  • Gastrointestinal improvements: In prolonged endurance sports (triathlon, ultramarathon, etc.), gastrointestinal discomfort or nausea is common among some runners during competitions. In these cases, small doses of ginger can help settle the stomach (Nguyen Hoang Anh et al., 2020).

Key benefits of black pepper

  • It is primarily added because it improves the absorption of certain bioactive compounds that naturally have low bioavailability, such as curcumin. This is mainly because it inhibits its hepatic metabolism and slows its breakdown in the digestive tract, which can increase its systemic absorption by up to 2,000% (Rosińska-Lewandoska, D. et al., JEHS. 2024).
  • Adding an active ingredient like piperine can enhance and maintain the positive effect of curcumin.

Why use the combination of these three extracts?

Because they act synergistically, enhancing the effects of each one individually, some studies have shown that consuming these three herbal extracts, compared to drugs like naproxen (an NSAID), improves PGE2 (Prostaglandin E2) levels in patients with chronic osteoarthritis in a similar way to the aforementioned drug (Heidari-Beni, M. et al., PR. 2020). It has also been shown that adding ginger to a mixture of turmeric and piperine further promotes vasodilation and enhances the anti-inflammatory effects (Hegde, M. et al., AO. 2023).

Summary

Available scientific evidence suggests that oral curcumin supplementation may positively influence both the health and physical performance of athletes and/or physically active individuals. Curcumin appears to be safe and potentially beneficial in the context of sport and exercise, primarily due to its ability to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, alleviate muscle pain and damage, and thereby improve muscle recovery and support both physiological and psychological responses to training. These effects could contribute to improved athletic performance and overall adaptability to training.

Recommended for all types of people, especially for those with a chronic inflammatory disease who are looking to improve their health as much as possible, minimizing the intake of drugs and, therefore, their side effects.

Ingredients

Concentrated turmeric extract (Curcuma longa, root), corn starch, concentrated ginger extract (Zingiber officinale, root), hydroxypropyl-methyl-cellulose capsule, concentrated black pepper extract (Piper nigrum, fruit), anti-caking agent: magnesium stearate.

Instructions for use

Take one capsule daily or as prescribed by your doctor or nutritionist. To improve absorption and avoid possible gastric discomfort, it is preferable to take it with a meal containing fat (oil, nuts, avocado, etc.).

Pro tips

  • Acute (4–5 day) supplementation protocol for high-intensity training and/or competition phases: To optimize recovery processes, take one dose before and, especially, another dose after the training session or competition. This protocol should begin 1 to 2 days before the specific session or competition and be continued for the following 2 or 3 days.
  • Long-term or chronic (4–12 weeks) supplementation protocol: This intake protocol may amplify the benefits against muscle damage and thus promote better recovery. Take one dose daily with breakfast or dinner.
  • Mixed supplementation protocol: consists of maintaining a chronic protocol and, at times of maximum training load or competition, reinforcing it with an acute protocol, that is, increasing the dose and changing the timing of intake.

Warnings and/or contraindications

Turmeric

Consult your doctor, specialist, or nutritionist if you are diabetic, as turmeric can lower blood sugar. Keep this in mind if you are taking any diabetes medication such as metformin or insulin, as it could cause hypoglycemia.

Ginger

Consult your doctor, specialist, or nutritionist if you are taking any anticoagulant medication such as Warfarin or antiplatelet drugs such as acenocoumarol (Sintrom), acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin, Adiro, etc.), as it may increase the risk of hemorrhage, bleeding, etc.

Black pepper
