HIGH CARBOHYDRATE ENERGY GEL WITH ADDED SODIUM
At Crown Sport Nutrition, we’ve considered all those athletes who need a higher carbohydrate intake during exercise, which is why we developed the Hyper (1:0.8) line of gels, bars, and drinks. These products easily achieve carbohydrate intakes exceeding 60g/hour. HyperGel 45 is a high-carbohydrate energy gel:

HyperGel 45 contains the ideal blend of maltodextrin and fructose carbohydrates in a 1.25:1 ratio (also known as 1:0.8). This combination optimizes the oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates, allowing for a rate exceeding 60 g/h during prolonged exercise (Currell, 2008; Earnest, 2004).
Why combine them in a 1.25:1 (1:0.8) ratio and not in the classic 2:1?
Because recent research has shown that this ratio achieves maximum energy efficiency, with 74% effective oxidation of the carbohydrates consumed (Rowlands, 2015).
Why use maltodextrin as a source of glucose?
Maltodextrin offers greater energy efficiency compared to other sources such as cyclodextrin or isomaltulose (Palatinose®), and exhibits better gastrointestinal tolerance due to its low osmotic impact. Furthermore, its neutral flavor enhances palatability (Rowlands, 2022).
With caffeine: It has been added to certain versions to enhance performance in both endurance and strength. Caffeine activates the central nervous system, improves muscle contraction, and optimizes the use of glycogen and fat (Grgic, 2019; Lopes, 1983).
Why not use glucose directly?
Although glucose and maltodextrin have similar energy efficiency, maltodextrin reduces the osmolality of the mixture, thus decreasing the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort. Furthermore, it does not provide excessive sweetness, making it more suitable for prolonged exertion.
Summary:
For high carbohydrate concentration products taken during exercise, the maltodextrin/fructose combination in a 1.25:1 ratio allows for maximum energy efficiency and minimal digestive discomfort (Rowlands, 2022).

Ideal texture
We have developed a gel with a fluid texture, easy to swallow even with high concentrations of carbohydrates, avoiding the dense or gritty feeling typical of this type of product.
Minimum ingredients
No sweeteners or colorings. The unflavored versions have no added flavor, only the natural sweetness of fructose. The flavored versions contain only natural flavorings.
